Bounce – Illustration Friday

I’ve went back to doing Illustration Friday after an extended hiatus. Why I ever stopped doing this every week is never really clear.

This is my entry for “Bounce”. Pretty literal I know but still, it was fun to create.

The whole illustration probably took me about three hours maybe? That’s pretty good by my standards as when I illustrate I’m quite often struck by this obsessive compulsive thing where I don’t seem to know when to stop or when an illustration is finished. I’ve probably ruined a couple or two over the years from simply not knowing when to walk away.

Even this drawing was only meant to have been a half hour pencil sketch but the next thing I knew I’d scanned it into photoshop and had the paint brush tool out. In a lot of ways it’s not a bad problem to have but when you’re working in freelance illustration and you live in a world of crazy deadlines it can turn out to be a little taxing.

Then again, if I’m going to keep persuading folks to do the whole buy art online thing then I supposed it’s good that the paying punters know that I at least put the hours in.
