Brothers Brimm – Animated Short
Brother Brimm is an animated short currently doing the rounds on the worldwide interwebs. Produced by the students over at Dave School at Universal Studios in Orlando Florida, it is the brain child of comic illustrator Christian “Patch” Patchell who is also the creator of the awesome Monster Mondays webcomic.
I’m not gong to go on too much about the storyline. Just watch it. All I’ll say is that the first thing that I thought of was Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas meets Robert Crumb and then gets hijacked by a demented re-imagining of Thelma and Louise.
Actually, that’s a terrible description and does nothing to accurately describe the short but never mind, hopefully you’ll still watch it and so you should! Patch’s characters translate on to the screen incredibly well.
The film works in a way that the British comedy show Fawlty Towers worked. Make sense? Probably not but hear me out.
Basil Fawlty was such a memorable character in the way that he was in a position where he had to be nice to people constantly but in actual fact was the rudest, most inhospitable person imaginable. This made for some hilarious scenarios. Brothers Brimm works in much the same way but it’s flipped. Brothers Brimm are demons, creatures of hell, minions of Satan. However, the reality is that they’re all about redemption and act pretty much like a couple of your buddies might do if you were out having a beer with them.
This short is all I’ve seen so far but it works! Check it below.
