Daily Sketches: Week 5
Monday: Back From Holiday
I got back from holiday the day before doing this one. Man oh man! Airports! I truly despise the experience. Roll on the day when “beam me up Scotty” teleportation technology comes around.
Tuesday: Seventies Footballer
I know that it is all too easy to look back and romanticize about bygone days but it really does seem to me that things just looked better and more human back then, especially in football. I think it is partly because today’s superstar footballer with their huge transfer fee’s and massive pay packets just seems so removed from everyday reality.
Wednesday: Guitar Wielding Rocker
You would expect to find this guy in a pub somewhere in a small English town wouldn’t you? Still rocking out in defiance of that cruel master that is the passing of time.
Good for him I say!
Thursday: Jimi Hendrix
He had dies 44 years to the day on Thursday so I had to draw him I think.
Thursday was also the day of the Independence referendum in my home country of Scotland which may explain his choice of badge. More about that below.
Friday: The Folks From Scotland, they Say No.
Well, 55% of them anyway which is obviously a majority.
Scotland opted against breaking away from Britain and becoming an independent country. I wanted the opposite and at the time of drawing this I was more than a little peeved. I’ve mellowed now but still, I do find the national anthem a little contradictory now, I must admit.
Saturday: Woody Guthrie
“All you fascists gonna lose”, he sang!
Sunday: The Range Brothers at Work
Just can’t seem to get away from drawing folks with guitars lately. I was once, in another life, in a band with these two. Big love to them always. Need to get myself back to Manchester to pay these guys a visit. Been way too long.
Mark(left)is easier to draw. Jim was a little harder to capture. Maybe I’ll have another go during the week.
