Glasgow Illustration
This is just the start of an illustration project that I’m embarking upon. I’ve had fun with this one so I’m going to continue with a few more.
When I first came up with this idea, it came from a desire to develop my ability to present my illustrations alongside text. I sat and wondered about all the different ways to do it. Could I have have the text underneath, above it, merging into it? Then all of a sudden I had this idea, why not make the illustrations and the text, one and the same thing?
So that’s how I got started with this. The few that I do will most probably be Philadelphia, New York, Dublin and Edinburgh.
Glasgow itself is a fascinating place. I lived there happily for two years. It’s one of those places that manages to pull off the art of appearing friendly and welcoming yet still have that slightly threatening undertone running through it. If you go, you’ll have a great time no doubt.
Original Doodle. It seemed like it was going to work okay.
If you enjoy culture, the architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh, learning history and seeing the sights, you’ll love this city.
However, if you happen to adore deep fried food, an almost day-glo orange fizzy liquid called “irn bru”, consuming alcohol until your blind and shouting random obscenities and proclamations in the street at 3am in the morning about football, then the odds are pretty high that you’ll never leave.
